LET US BEGIN!

“All this will not be finished in the first hundred days... the first thousand days... nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.”— John F. Kennedy

We know we have a mammoth task ahead of us. But we must know that we also have the potential to tackle it. Every suggestion, every anecdote, every experience that you share with us will only confirm this belief.
We've added pictures that we have taken of the present state of our monuments. These need to be seen, these need to be understood as portents of what may happen if such defacement continues unchecked!

Hope for the future lies with us, the youth. We’ve shown our mettle before. We’ve led candlelight vigils and have marched in protest together to repeal judicial errors and bring wrongly acquitted criminals to book.

And now it’s time to join hands again. So ACT now! DO your bit! HUG YOUR HISTORY!

Ignorance is bliss, a motto which gives away this nation’s mindset. It is thus necessary for us to understand as educated enlightened youth to not mock our past by defacing it but it is also necessary to understand that this country has been consumed by illiteracy and unawareness. This is where the government too needs to change its stance on the matters of preservation of this country’s past by adopting a policy more strict than the one present. People must be MADE to realize that when they deface a monument it is a crime against law.

If i may use a cliche...Well begun is half done..I think even if a handful of people get together to try to cause some change, it will eventually happen. Sensitising the youth is of course the most obvious track to take, but there is a latent force in the country that can be activated and well-utilised, and it is the generation that we now consider to be "past". Older people have a lot of experience and a spirit of devotion that can move the society, and even the government, in a bid to preserve the country's history and heritage, and ensure that we are able to create a heritage for tomorrow which will become the history of the future..

Beneath each of these monuments lie innumerable stories of effort, cause, feelings and if nothing ... they still carry a name for themselves. If not for our own history ,we could just respect them for what they are. They stand for a lot more than just beautifully done structures... we just need to be more sensitive towards how we can preserve and take pride in these monuments we call our own but don't treat them likewise.

First to congratulate Zest on this initiative and best wishes on this endevour. I however feel, that it isnt only the youth that needs to be sensitised towards the cause. We can spearhead a movement undoubtedly, but the message has to seep down to classes and masses alike. Staining our heritage and monuments, is a reflection of how we treat our past and tradition. The passion that older generations have when they speak of history and recent past, is the fervour we need to infuse when we discuss the same....Lets convert this initiative into a movement....great work guys...
